{ from trash to treasure }

These well worn chairs have become studio favorites!

But we need something "new"

"One man's trash is another man's treasure." Whoever said that surely had us in mind! Do you have a chair tucked away in the attic that you aren't sure what to do with or maybe a couch from Grandma that you are just dying to replace? Have you ever wondered WHO in the world would want it? WE DO!!! ~ that's who! Kimberly is looking for old furniture with lots of "charm" and "character" (in other words we don't mind nicks, scratches, faded floral fabric and just the "lived in" look!) ~ just snap a picture of it and send it to us, either e-mail, kimberly@kimberlysphotos.com or drop it by the studio, 42 W. Canal St, Wabash ~ 46992. If we decide to take it off your hands you will receive a complimentary session and an 8x10. We will even come and haul the old thing AWAY!!
Start snapping those pics, we can't wait to see what great "finds" you have stashed away in your attics and garages!

P.S. ~ check out my new super cutie!
How could I NOT take her home?

Tate calls her "Puppa" but I think we will name her Izzy,
or Emma, or Macy.....hmmm this is going to take some thought!

{fyi}

The things we will do to get noticed....

We are going through some CHANGES around here.....where to begin....

First the most obvious, the studio exterior. We had a "LITTLE" issue with bricks not wanting to stay in their place. Kimberly quickly got that situation squared away, but I still duck and cover when I am going in the front door!

The next change, (I am EXCITED about this one) we are presenting slide shows!!!! No more 4x5 proofs my friends! Shocking isn't it.......Now, I know we have some clients who have a love affair with proofs and think they cannot possibly live without them, and you may be a TAD bit leerly ~ but give they slideshow a try, I don't think you will be disappointed! Just imagine it, go ahead close your eyes, your snuggled on a comfy couch with your family and friends and up pops the most breathtaking images of you loved one, set to music & projected on a big screen. I am telling you there have been many tears shed at these viewings. It's wow! (Oh, and you can still ORDER your beloved proofs!)

Now, lastly and possibly the biggest, I am not sure if you have noticed, but Kimberly's style has changed. No not changed, that's not the right word, it has GROWN, BLOSSOMED, MATURED, I think what I am tryin to say is.......she's better than ever!!!! I call her a "Lifestyle" photographer because she is capturing the spirit, the individuality of each client in ways that ASTONISHES me and their loved ones! Don't get me wrong she has always been an incredible photographer, but lately she is blowing me away! Personalities are popping in these slideshows and prints. So if you haven't been here in a while stop by and see some samples of her work, maybe catch one of our slideshows have a few cookies and coffee and see what we have been up to! AND....there are even more great things to come in the future....keep watch and tell your friends, the excitement around here is contagious!!

CHECK THIS OUT!!!! ~ Just push play!

Oh, my gosh!!!! I got a slideshow on the blog!!!!

{ My Tate-o turned two!!!!! }

Mia soaking up some rays before cake time...

Spidey cake....yum!

Tate, taking time out from unwrapping to
try out a new toy...

Aunt Katie & Uncle Matt enjoying the festivities.
Two of Tate's Mommy's super fabulous friends.
It's all about us, right girls????

After party sugar crash....

What an exciting weekend for my little man. He celebrated his second birthday in grand style with the help of family, friends and his favorite web-slinging hero. It was a Spider-Man theme, Mommy tried to talk him into a fun Pirate party, but it was a no go. He is a Spidey fan through and through!
The kids had a GREAT time ...splashing, water balloons, sidewalk chalk, fire hose sprinklers pinatas, and Uncle Mattie played a game of 500 with the big boys~don't ask...I think he made it up! And of course all of Tate's favorite snacks! Spicey Spidey Salsa, Green Goblin Guacamole, fruit and fruit dip, Muffaletta on a stick, Taylor's gigantic, YUMMY decorated cookies, (Spiders & spiderwebs of course!) a spidey cake, and an ice cream bar complete with waffle bowls, sprinkle, hot fudge, caramel, nuts, mini chocolate chips whip cream and cherries. Yumm-o!

It was fun, but in true Elizabeth style, the party couldn't go without a hitch. We had one mishap. Slippery, little Jon, fresh out of the pool, wriggled out of his mother's protective arms and bonked his head on the cement. It was TRAUMATIC, at least for the grown-ups. Kim was clutching him tight, with tears streaming, I ran for my sister Katie, (she is a nurse and mother and has plenty of experience with head trauma). We were grabbing towels, ice packs and green goop to smear on his head, Jon on the other hand......he shed a few tears and was back to play with the kids! .......to much excitement for me! Next year......something simple.....

A great big HUG & KISS to everyone who helped us celebrate and a thank you for all the gifts. We so appreciate your love and kindness to our little family....

{ Eek!!! We need help....}

Ok, so here it is. Kimberly has been asked by a local wedding magazine to submit an image for consideration for their cover on an upcoming issue....AHHHHH! We are sooo excited, but the catch is we can only submit ONE image, and we can't pick just ONE! We have sifted through HUNDREDS of potential brides and wedding images and narrowed it down to these five. Believe me it wasn't easy, Kimberly's photographed so many beautiful brides!

They are looking for something cutting edge, a "metropolitan" look and of course a STUNNING bride. We feel this bride fits that description....she is beautiful, was so GREAT to work with and as sweet as they come! So what do you think? Look these five over and cast your vote! Our deadline is August 15th, YIKES!, so don't wait.......thanks a bunch!

{ Bama Breezes, Sandy Beaches....and Red Heels!?}

What do those three things have in common? Absolutely nothing, execpt this blog post...

First off, the Bama Breeze Tour. My husband and I went to the Jimmy Buffett concert in Indy last night, (this is my 10th one!) and we had a BLAST, but phew...am I tired!!! We danced in the grass under the stars, sang with gusto and and chatted with our fellow "Parrotheads"! But I am finding out as the day goes on, I am not the young sprite I used to be....I am TIRED!!! Thirty is right around the corner and I can't handle the late nights like I used to! Good thing Jimmy only rolls into town once a year...Fins Up!

Next up, Red Heels. Kim and I are searching for some great red shoes. Heels are preferred but other than that we are up for anything! Strappy, open-toed, closed toed....it doesn't matter ~ just as long as they are red heels! So if any of you are out and about or surfing the net and stumble upon a cute pair let us know PLEASE!

And finally, and probably most importantly.....we are headed back to FLORIDA'S sandy beaches! We are planning our beach excursion over fall break so check your calendars, and plan to travel to Florida with us! Last year was soooo fun, and this year promises to be even better! More details to follow.....

Secondly, Victor did AWESOME at the race last night, he came in third in his heat. Kimberly & Gary couldn't be prouder, actually we are all SUPER proud of him. I can hardly believe he is the same little boy who used to "share" chapstick with me at daycare....time goes so fast.

{ Knee slappin', toe tappin' time at the fair....}

Check her out! Isn't she beautiful!

Cheese it up for the camera boys!
Out and about at the fair!

Kickin' things up at the 4-H fair!

Only Kim & I would be daring enough
to wear heels to the fair!

We had a GREAT lunch at the fair today. Kim & I met our dear friend, and studio organizer extraordinaire Sarah today for lunch, as always when the three of us are together, it was a hoot! It was SOOO fun spending our lunch outdoors, bumping into so many friendly faces, and have I mentioned the pie? I absolutely LOVE fair food, and I am sure that doesn't come as to big a shock to many of you......but truly it is a BIG part of why I even go to the fair!

If you happen to be at the fair tomorrow night be sure and stop by cheer Victor on in his first ever dirt bike race ( or offer some comfort to Kim, she will be a nervous wreck I'm sure!)

{ See you at the fair.....}

{ Newest member of the Didion family....}

our little shelter rescue. I stopped by the shelter yesterday to drop off info about our Dog Days of Summer event (more coming on that later...) and saw his cute little face in the window and couldn't resist. So home with me he went. Now he needs a name.......any suggestions? I am thinking Leo, my son has been calling him Einstein, Mow-Mow, and Spidey, so really he needs a name. If anyone has any thoughts, lets hear them!

{ Good intentions.... }

I had the best of intentions to use this blog to keep clients & friends updated on the haps at Portraits by Kimberly and to offer clients a sneak peek of their session proofs, as you all can see since my last post was May 11th, I have been slacking. I will do better, I promise....

On that note, keep watching. Kim got some ADORABLE construction pics last week. I will post a few of them shortly. Have a great day!

{ What a difference you've made in my life......}

Snuggles & tickles, grins & giggles that's what Mommies do best!

Sunday is Mother's day and what a difference our Mom's have made in our lives. They are caregivers, educators, nurturers and friends. Moms do it all. Tell us the best advice your Mom ever gave you.
This weekend when you are spending time with the special mom in your life (whether it's your own mom, your mother in law, your wife or sister) snap a picture or two of your family celebrating then e-mail it or drop it by the studio. We will have a contest and the winner receives a mini session.
Have a terrific weekend all!

{ The results are in....}

Friday night at the Convention Center, we were anxiously awaiting start time!

Well we did it! Kimberly & I both surpassed our personal goals of finishing the 5K in under 45 minutes by finishing just under 35 minutes. The average for the race was 39:47 so I think we did exceptionally well for our first try! The whole weekend was just amazing, from packet pick up on Friday night to crossing the finish line and spending the morning celebrating our victories with other runners Saturday morning. The sense of accomplishment afterwards and the common bond you feel with other runners still has me flying high even today. I am already looking forward to and training for next years mini, 13.1 miles.....I think we can do it!
A big "hug" to everyone who supported us and offered encouraging words! We can't thank you enough for the encouragement and friendship!

{ Tiptoe through the tulips }

We thought the rain would cause us to reschedule Miss Isabelle's outdoor session.....but fortunately that wasn't the case! Mom was prepared with an umbrella and Miss Isabelle didn't seem to mind the muck, mulch and mud puddles. Sarah enjoy the sneak peek of Isabelle's one year session!
