{ Meet my alter ego...}

Have you seen the M&M commercial with the average joes doing their thing and the poof...they are M&M's...I have wanted to do that since the first time I saw the commercial. Today I had some free time in the morning so I visited becomeanmm.com and ta da.....
what do you think? Do we look alike? Ravishing red hair...check. Flip flops...check. Coffee/tea mug...double check...yep, that's my alter ego.
I had so much fun creating my M&M, I just had to try Kimberly.....

{ The ties that bind...}

Want to know something???? Family sessions at our clients homes are one of my favorite things.... really I LOVE them! Not only are the kids soooo much more relaxed, but everyone is, because they are on their HOME turf! Plus, you can so get a feel for what is important to a family by visiting their home...and this family Kim photographed in Carmel...they are way into each other! Pictures dotted the walls, children's artwork hung on the refrigerator, and they were just comfortable being together...

I hope people come into my home and say, wow her kitchen counter tops may be dated, and her linoleum floor is older than dirt but they LOVE their son and it is all about him! Yea, that's what I want.....

Thanks Mila for sharing your afternoon and wonderful family with us!

{ On the road again....}

Ok, ok I know we weren't in the studio again this morning and by the # "17" blinking at me from the answering machine, I'd say we were missed! We were off working, not galavanting around town having fun, well ok we were having fun, but it was work related! We had another meeting for the upcoming BABYfest in Kokomo on August 16th....mark your calendars expecting mommies & parents of toddlers..this is going to be a GREAT day! We are one of the sponsors of the event, along with Babies R Us, the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincents, Dukes Memorial, Howard Regional Health System....those are some pretty big names huh? We are so excited about Babyfest...check out the website, http://www.babyfestnci.org/ and plan on spending a Saturday with us in August!

{ I've been practicing....}

My models. Imagine Kim as a handsome
groom and Sarah, well she is the "blushing" bride.

I've been with Kimberly for over 3 years now (that is a record thank you very much!) and when I interviewed for this position I remember asking (probably in a panic-y voice) if I'd ever have to photograph anything. Kimberly reassured me that I would never have to be behind the camera, I would just be doing ordering and reception type work. Well, then I started doing our marketing, next thing you know I am doing our website and blog....then a year later Kim handed me a camera while we were at a wedding and told me to go have fun and "just see what you get"... and a love was born. So for over 2 years I have been shooting weddings with Kimberly, she is always the main photographer, I do the details and a more photo journalistic approach....well this Saturday is my first solo wedding. I am soooo excited and honestly I would be lying to myself if I didn't say I am slightly nervous. Sarah is going along with me to be my rock....thank God for Sarah. But really, Kimberly says I will do great, and I need her confidence in me, it calms my nerves, that and a few breathing excercies I've learned in yoga...but mostly her encouraging words (and knowing she is only a phone call away) and our bride...she couldn't be any nicer, and will be beautiful...that makes my job easy!

So I have been working on my manual shooting, instead of just putting the camera on Program and letting it do all the work, I now have to think! The horror! But it has opened up a whole new world to me, and I love it.....so here are some recent things I've done...let me know what you think & wish me luck on Saturday!

{ Hello Summer...}

Hot.Hot.Hot. Summer has definitely arrived & the temperatures are on the rise! My new favorite way to cool down??? An iced coffee made with our FABULOUS Keurig coffee maker and what pairs nicely with it? A cookie and do you know what today is? National Sugar Cookie day...that is a fact you will only learn here my friends. So raise a glass of milk, iced coffee or whatever your beverage of choice is...to National Sugar Cookie Day! Yummm!

{ Celebrate ...}

Don't you love that the 4th falls on a Friday this year? How cool is that??? We have big plans ~ a HUGE party tonight with friends, and I swear the fireworks display they put on rivals that of the one the city we live in does....and then it's work, work, work in the yard. Landscaping, gardening, planting, mowing...all the things Tate & I love to do, but my husband...not so much. Let me take that back, he loves yard work, but he hates that he always gets stuck doing the "gross" work i.e. ~ scooping the doggy doo out of the yard, moving the logs and rocks with the creepy crawlies underneath, and dealing with any funky odors or mystery substances that are lurking in the dark corners of the garage & yard... etc. Well, someone's got to do it, plus I've changed way more dirty diapers then he has...so I say we are even!

Have a happy & safe 4th everyone!
